Changi Airport is renowned for its innovative approach to enhancing the travel experience, and this year, it has outdone itself by celebrating the golden jubilee of the beloved character, Hello Kitty. From 1 November 2024 to 16 February 2025, visitors can immerse themselves in a festive wonderland at Changi Airport, where Hello Kitty and her Sanrio friends take centre stage. This article explores the delightful attractions and activities available at the Hello Kitty Festive Wonderland, making it a must-visit destination for fans of all ages.

A Festive Wonderland Awaits

As part of the fifth edition of the Changi Festive Village, the Hello Kitty Festive Wonderland is designed to evoke joy and nostalgia. Upon entering Terminal 3 (T3) Departure Hall, visitors are greeted by an impressive 8-metre-tall Hello Kitty topiary, surrounded by her friends such as My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, and Pompompurin. This enchanting display sets the tone for a festive atmosphere filled with cuteness and charm.

Joyful Activities

The festive spirit continues with a 7-metre-long rainbow slide, providing a thrilling ride for children and adults alike. This attraction is not just about fun; it also serves as a perfect photo opportunity for families looking to capture memorable moments. Additionally, daily snow shows will transform the departure hall into a winter wonderland, creating a magical experience that enhances the holiday vibe.

For those eager to meet their favourite characters, exclusive meet-and-greet sessions will be held on weekends. To participate, guests can reserve a meet-and-greet pass through the Changi App by spending S$50 (S$80 at supermarkets or Jewel) in a single same-day receipt at participating retail and F&B outlets within Changi Airport.

Explore More Sanrio Characters

Beyond the main attractions in Terminal 3, Hello Kitty and her friends will be making appearances throughout Changi Airport. From 14 November, visitors can embark on a scavenger hunt to find Hello Kitty-themed topiaries and figurines scattered across Terminals 1 to 4. With 15 locations to explore, fans can spot Hello Kitty in whimsical settings, such as riding in a rickshaw or playfully spinning with Pompompurin.

Ang Siew Min, Senior Vice President of Airport Operations Services at Changi Airport Group, expressed excitement about this celebration: “Sanrio’s iconic characters have transcended generations, endearing themselves to both the young and the young-at-heart. We are delighted to bring these beloved figures to life at Changi Airport.”

The Carnival Experience

At T3 Arrival Hall, visitors can indulge in the Hello Kitty and Friends carnival, which features nine themed zones, each dedicated to a different Sanrio character. These zones are designed not only for fun but also for interaction; guests can pose with larger-than-life figurines of their favourite characters.

The carnival is packed with engaging activities including:

  • Photo Booths: Capture your experience with themed photo booths that offer unique backdrops featuring Sanrio characters.
  • Rides: Enjoy rides like the ‘50th Celebration Grand Express’, where riders are treated to limited-edition collectible pins while stocks last.

Workshops for Creativity

In addition to games and rides, there will be creative workshops where participants can craft their own Sanrio keepsakes. Options include hot-stamped bottles filled with crystals or personalised crystal domes adorned with accessories. These workshops provide an excellent opportunity for families to bond while creating memorable souvenirs from their visit.

Cosmic HydroPark: A Splashing Good Time

Adding another layer of excitement to this festive season is the debut of Cosmic HydroPark, Changi Airport’s first-ever inflatable water park located at T3 Coach Bay. This attraction features an exhilarating obstacle course complete with swings, trampolines, balance beams, and a giant slide.
