A groundbreaking collaboration between the Singapore Red Cross and POP Mart has transformed blood donation into an even more rewarding experience for Singaporeans. Running until 7th November 2025, this special campaign offers eligible donors a complimentary surprise POP Mart blind box when they successfully donate blood at participating locations across the island.

The partnership represents a creative approach to addressing Singapore’s ongoing blood supply needs whilst introducing donors to the world of collectible art toys. Every hour, 15 units of blood are used throughout Singapore, making consistent donations critical for maintaining adequate supplies for emergency situations and patients requiring regular transfusions.

How the Singapore Red Cross and POP Mart Campaign Works

Participating in this rewarding blood donation initiative is straightforward. Prospective donors must first verify their eligibility through the Singapore Red Cross online quiz, which takes approximately one minute to complete. The basic requirements include being between 16 and 60 years old, weighing at least 45 kilogrammes, and maintaining good general health. For donors aged 16 or 17, a signed parental consent form is mandatory.

Once eligibility is confirmed, donors can book appointments at three designated bloodbanks. Bloodbank@Woodlands, Bloodbank@Westgate Tower, and Bloodbank@One Punggol serve as the exclusive venues for this campaign. During registration, donors must quote the Group Code R0614 to qualify for the blind box redemption. This code serves as the key identifier linking participants to the Singapore Red Cross and POP Mart collaboration.

The blood donation process itself takes approximately 45 minutes from start to finish, with the actual donation lasting just 8 to 10 minutes. Following a successful donation, participants can immediately collect their surprise blind box before leaving the facility. The blind boxes are distributed randomly, adding an element of excitement to an already meaningful act of community service.

Understanding POP Mart’s Collectible Appeal

POP Mart has revolutionised the collectible toy industry through its innovative blind box concept, where customers purchase sealed packages without knowing which specific character they’ll receive. This element of surprise has captivated collectors worldwide, particularly across East and Southeast Asia.

The company’s most popular characters include Labubu, an elf-like creature with distinctive pointed ears and serrated teeth; Molly, a proud little girl with signature emerald eyes and pouty expression; Crybaby, featuring emotional expressions and vibrant designs; and Skullpanda, combining edgy aesthetics with kawaii charm. Each character comes in various themed series, costumes, and limited editions, making complete collection sets highly sought after.

Founded in 2010, POP Mart transformed from a Beijing variety store into a global phenomenon. The company went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in December 2020, with shares skyrocketing over 500 per cent in recent years. Today, POP Mart operates more than 2,000 vending machines and numerous physical stores across 30-plus countries, including Singapore.

The Critical Importance of Blood Donation in Singapore

Singapore requires approximately 120,000 units of blood annually to meet transfusion needs, equivalent to more than 400 units daily. With an ageing population, increasingly advanced medical procedures, and new hospitals being established, this demand continues growing year after year.

Blood donations support diverse medical needs. Emergency situations, major surgeries, and patients with conditions like leukaemia, thalassaemia, and bleeding disorders all depend on steady blood supplies. A single unit of donated blood can be separated into three life-saving components—red blood cells, platelets, and plasma—potentially saving three different lives.

The Singapore Red Cross, appointed as the national blood donor recruiter in April 2001, works in partnership with the Health Sciences Authority to maintain adequate supplies. The organisation focuses on recruiting and retaining donors, educating the public about donation importance, and coordinating blood drives throughout the community.

Maintaining a six-day supply of blood in the national inventory is vital for public use during both peacetime and emergencies. However, blood supplies often face pressure during festive periods, school breaks, and unexpected crises, making regular donations from committed donors essential.

Campaign Locations and Operating Hours

Bloodbank@Woodlands, located at 900 South Woodlands Drive opposite Causeway Point, operates Monday and Wednesday through Friday from 12pm to 8pm, with weekend hours from 10am to 5pm. The facility closes on Tuesdays and public holidays.

Bloodbank@Westgate Tower sits at 3 Gateway Drive, offering identical operating hours. Meanwhile, Bloodbank@One Punggol at 1 Punggol Drive maintains the same schedule, providing convenient options for residents across different regions of Singapore.

All three locations maintain strict hygiene protocols, using new, sterile equipment for each donation that is immediately discarded after single use. Donors can rest assured that the process is safe, with no risk of contracting diseases through the donation procedure.

Previous Success and Campaign Extension

The Singapore Red Cross and POP Mart collaboration initially launched in early October 2025, running from 2nd to 17th October at the same three locations. The campaign’s overwhelming success prompted an extension through 7th November 2025, allowing more Singaporeans to participate whilst supporting community blood supply needs.

During the October phase, donors quoted Group Code R0164 and redeemed blind boxes during specific time slots. The November extension utilises Group Code R0614, ensuring smooth processing for new participants.

Who Can Benefit from Donated Blood

Blood transfusions serve numerous patient populations. Accident victims requiring emergency treatment, surgical patients undergoing major operations, and individuals with chronic conditions all depend on donor generosity. Some patients with thalassaemia and leukaemia require transfusions as frequently as weekly to maintain normal haemoglobin levels and platelet counts, sustaining their lives through ongoing treatment.

Pregnant women experiencing complications, cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, and organ transplant recipients also rely on steady blood supplies. The versatility of blood components means donations serve diverse medical specialities, from oncology to cardiology to trauma care.

Preparing for Your Donation Appointment

Successful donation requires proper preparation. Donors should ensure adequate rest before their appointment and maintain good hydration by drinking plenty of water. Eating a healthy meal before donation helps maintain energy levels and reduces the likelihood of feeling lightheaded.

After donation, most people resume normal activities immediately, though some may experience temporary fatigue. The bloodbank provides refreshments and monitors donors briefly to ensure they feel well before departing. Staff are trained to handle any adverse reactions promptly, with medical professionals available if needed.

Donors receive their health screening results, including haemoglobin levels and blood pressure readings. For many, this free health check serves as an additional benefit alongside the satisfaction of helping others and receiving a collectible blind box.

The Singapore Red Cross and POP Mart Partnership Impact

This collaboration demonstrates how creative partnerships can address serious community needs. By combining POP Mart’s cultural appeal with the Singapore Red Cross’s humanitarian mission, the campaign attracts both regular donors and first-time participants curious about the collectible incentive.

The campaign particularly resonates with younger Singaporeans who may not have considered blood donation previously. POP Mart’s popularity among students and young professionals creates a bridge between youth culture and civic responsibility, potentially establishing lifelong donation habits.

Beyond the immediate blood collection goals, the partnership raises awareness about ongoing donation needs. Even after the campaign concludes, participants may continue donating regularly, having experienced the straightforward process and witnessed the appreciation for their contribution.

Making Your Contribution

Whether motivated by the desire to save lives, curiosity about POP Mart collectibles, or both, eligible Singaporeans have until 7th November 2025 to participate in this unique campaign. The combination of meaningful community service and tangible rewards creates an opportunity to make a genuine difference whilst joining the popular blind box collecting phenomenon.

Stocks remain available whilst supplies last, with blind boxes distributed randomly to maintain the signature surprise element POP Mart collectors cherish. By taking the eligibility quiz, booking an appointment, and presenting Group Code R0614 at registration, donors can complete the entire process smoothly and efficiently.

The Singapore Red Cross and POP Mart collaboration exemplifies how innovative thinking can address traditional challenges. Blood donation remains a critical community need, and creative incentives help ensure adequate supplies reach patients who depend on donor generosity for their health and survival.
