Matcha took off in Singapore in 2025, with cafes everywhere and one-hour waits at Hi Coffee after it went viral, according to HungryGoWhere. Online tea seller Tealife Singapore reported that its matcha sales doubled in 2024 compared with 2023, according to The Women’s Weekly. Prices now run from about S5.80toS9.90 a cup in the cafes reviewed below, according to HungryGoWhere and Eatbook.
This guide lists named cafes, what they charge and what to check before you queue.
Demand grew fast. HungryGoWhere says matcha was already popular, but 2025 took it to a new level, with cafes serving it everywhere and sometimes even hawker centres. The Women’s Weekly adds the Tealife sales figure, which shows demand reaching beyond cafes into home use.
Prices rose too. HungryGoWhere says part of the increase comes from a global shortage, and that a good matcha latte takes a few minutes to prepare because it is made to order. A cup of quality ceremonial-grade matcha in the CBD can cost as much as a meal, according to the same article.
A short answer to “why is matcha so popular?” is a mix of viral drinks, social media and a rising habit of treating a cafe visit as an outing.
Here are named cafes and the prices published by Eatbook and HungryGoWhere.
Cafe | Where | Price Examples |
Hi Coffee | Guoco Tower | Ceremonial-grade matcha latte at S5.80,strawberrymatchaatS7, taro matcha at S$7 |
Calendar Coffee | 258 South Bridge Road | Matcha latte $6.50++, hojicha latte $6++, strawberry matcha latte $8.50++ |
Spring Coffee | 531 Upper Cross Street, #02-60, Hong Lim Complex | Signature matcha $7.50 and strawberry matcha latte $8.50, nett prices (2025 listing) |
Creamie Sippies | 31 Keong Saik Road | Banana pudding matcha latte $9.90, strawberry matcha latte $8.90 (2025 listing) |
Rookie and Haus | Golden Mile Tower, #01-58 | Banana pudding matcha $9.50 |
Creamie Sippies stands out for a reason. Eatbook says its Keong Saik outlet uses Singapore’s first matcha mill, and diners may see the grinding in person. Calendar Coffee, from the team behind June Coffee, is a two-minute walk from Maxwell MRT, and Eatbook warns that it gets crowded.
Newcomers are on the way. Eatbook reports that Nintea.Matcha, a popular Chinese matcha brand, will open at Raffles City, #B1-60, with overseas prices from $3.90 to $7.25. Eatbook also notes that it is not halal-certified. Little Rituals, a matcha and cookie bar at 43 Arab Street, has opened inside Plop Apparels, according to Eatbook.
Look at what you want from the drink. If you want a plain, earthy matcha, order a signature or ceremonial-grade cup. If you want a sweet drink, a strawberry or banana pudding version suits better. Spring Coffee’s strawberry matcha leans milky and sweet rather than earthy and bitter, according to Eatbook.
Check the price carefully. Some cafes list prices with service charge and tax added, such as Calendar Coffee’s “++” prices, while others quote nett prices. A $6.50++ drink costs more than $6.50 at the till.

I think it depends on the cafe and the day. If a place has a new-opening promotion, the queue may be long for a short-lived deal. HungryGoWhere describes a two-for-S$9 opening promotion at Hi Coffee’s Guoco Tower outlet, with a queue because of the offer. If you want a calmer visit, go on a weekday afternoon.
Here is the blunt limitation. Some prices in this guide come from 2025 listings, and matcha prices have been rising, so your bill may differ. Cafes also change menus often. Check the cafe’s own page before you travel.

Cup size and ingredients explain part of the spread. The Women’s Weekly says a $9.50 banana pudding matcha at Rookie and Haus is a good price for how big the cup is, and Eatbook notes that Spring Coffee prepares every cup fresh at the counter. Eatbook also lists overseas prices for Nintea.Matcha at $3.90 to 7.25,usinganexchangerateofaboutS0.19 to one yuan on 1 September 2026, so its Singapore prices may differ.
Is ceremonial-grade matcha better for lattes? HungryGoWhere says quality ceremonial-grade matcha can cost a lot on its own. For a milky latte, you may not notice the difference, so choose the grade by taste and budget.
Are there matcha events? Yes. Eatbook reported Matcha Central, a matcha-themed event with a flea market, at Clarke Quay from 18 to 20 September 2026. That event has ended, so watch for similar fairs.
What drinks come with strawberries? Several cafes offer a strawberry matcha latte, which Eatbook says was a viral drink in 2024. Expect prices from $7 to $8.90 in the cafes listed above.
Can I find matcha desserts too? Yes. Eatbook says Nintea.Matcha’s overseas menu includes matcha gelato and matcha cakes, although its Singapore menu had not been released at the time of that report.
